Dear Future All*Star’s Academy Families,
The first 5 years of life are very important for your child(ren) because this sets the stage for success in school later in life. During infancy and early childhood, your child will gain many experiences and learn many skills. It is important to ensure that each child’s development progresses well during this period. Thank you for taking the first step by having your child(ren) here at FASA. It is a great investment in your child’s education and our goal is to provide the best start for your child.
The Ages & Stages Questionnaire, Third Edition (ASQ-SE), to help you keep track of your child’s social/emotional development. You will be sent the questionnaire out every 3 months for children under 12 months and then 2 times a year from the age of 1 through 5. We look to you as parents, since you are their FIRST teacher. Therefore, we ask you to fill out this questionnaire. It will include questions about your child’s social & emotional development. The information you provide will reveal your child’s strengths, uncover any areas of concern, and determine if there are community resources or services that may be useful for your child(ren) or your family.
After you fill this questionnaire out, please push submit. At that time we will go over the questionnaire, and determine the next step. If the results show that your child is developing without concerns, we will provide some fun activities designed for use with ASQ-SE to encourage your child’s development and will provide the next questionnaire at the appropriate time.
If the questionnaire shows some possible concerns, we will contact you and set up a meeting to discuss a few suggestions on the next step. Truly it is up to you as parents to guide the “next steps” in your child’s education path.
All this information is so important to make this screening process a big success! We are extremely excited to have this ASQ as part of our programing. The success of this screener is dependent on the parents….YOU, their #1 Teacher! Thank you for always supporting our center and making this place a “home away from home!” If you have any questions, please ask your child’s teacher or myself.
Sincerely,
Tricia KT Peterson & The Entire FASA Staff
